Eliminating Wasps

Yellow Jackets can be a pain - Literally!

Wasps can sometimes be confused with other stinging insects like bees. They don’t pollinate and most wasps are carnivorous. Have you ever noticed a wasp going after your burger during a BBQ? Having wasp problems during summer is very common for most people living here in Spokane, Post Falls, Hayden, and Coeur d’ Alene. The pros at Organix Pest Control have wasp control methods that can help make your summer less waspy and much more enjoyable to be outside with the family.

Controlling Wasps

Getting control over a wasp population that has taken hold on your property can sometimes be tricky. Wasps can fly, shocker. Most people in Post Falls, CDA, and Hayden tend to have multiple active wasps nests on their property and in some cases they can be difficult to locate, especially with the number of trees most of us have on our lots. We do live in a beautiful area, North Idaho has an amazing climate, wasps have the same idea through summer. We can help locate, and eliminate wasps.

Wasps vs Bees

Most of us know what a bee is, and most of us know what wasps are. When you compare the two they are somewhat similar in appearance. Both wasps and bees interact with the environment completely differently. Even though wasps look like bees, they don't pollinate and behave very differently. Pest control companies may get a bad rap for controlling wasps but wasps don't contribute nearly as much to our ecosystem as bees do. We are pro bee! Wasps are not liked as much as their cuter cousins. We use the latest IPM or Integrated Pest Management solutions to target wasps and to avoid harming honey bee populations.

Getting Rid of Wasps Nest

Most wasps and yellow jacket species do not reuse their nests from the previous wasps season. That is why most homes have multiple unsightly wasps nests around their eaves. Knocking the empty nests down won't help a bad wasp situation as you will need to target the active nests and remove those to see relief. Organix Pest Control recommends having a professional come by to get rid of wasps since doing it yourself can end up being painful! Wasps get a bit defensive when you start messing with their home.

Can Wasps or Yellow Jackets do Damage o my Home?

The short answer is yes. Most cases of wasp and yellow jacket infestations would be considered topical. That would mean they build their nest outside on a tree branch or your eaves. Now in other cases, wasps can build a nest underneath your siding which would require special treatment to avoid damage. Some pest control companies may need to cut open your walls! We don’t like damaging property so we developed a way to eliminate wasps in walls without any cutting. Low impact is key for us here, no one wants to deal with yellow jackets long term, and they don't want a pest control company damaging their house. Be sure to ask about our wasp control process!

Are Wasps Dangerous?

Whether or not wasps or yellow jackets are dangerous would depend on how you interact with them. If you are allergic to wasps, bees, or and species of yellow jacket be sure to hire a professional pest control company to control the situation. It’s cheaper to hire someone than to be sent to a hospital. Now if you aren't allergic to wasps you really shouldn't be too worried about the current species of yellow jackets we have here in Post Falls, Spokane, Liberty Lake, Hayden, and Coeur d’ Alene areas. As long as you don’t agitate the wasp's nest you will most likely be fine. If you do get stung by a wasp and you aren't allergic do them we’d suggest an ice pack and some lemonade.
